Contributing to the Realization of a Circular Society and Decarbonization through Our Business

Our Group recognizes that contributing to the realization of a sustainable economy is an important social responsibility amid the increasing seriousness of environmental challenges such as climate change. We will not only reduce the environmental impact of mobility and housing but also aid in the transition to a circular economy and the promotion of ethical consumption, and work together with our business partners to realize a circular society and decarbonization.

Realizing a Circular Society and Decarbonization

In our business domain, there are a wide range of fields in which we can contribute to the realization of a circular society, including the promotion of the distribution of used cars as well as vacant houses and other used housing, and the promotion and expansion of auto leasing for individuals. Through these business activities, we are actively promoting the reduction of GHG emissions and are working toward the realization of a circular society and decarbonization.

KPIs for Achieving the Above Targets

Expansion of businesses contributing to a circular society and decarbonization by cultivating the circular economy market: approx. 13 billion yen (FY2025–FY2029)
Form alliances and create synergies to realize a decarbonized and circular society.

Please see our transition plan for more details.

Cultivating the Circular Economy Market in the Automotive Industry

Our Group has the largest share of the personal auto leasing market in Japan and is cultivating the circular economy market in the automotive industry by providing auto loans and auto leases. In line with structural changes in the automotive industry, such as the shift from ownership to usage as well as the transition to EVs, our Group will also promote initiatives for the reuse of vehicle batteries. With regard to post-sale maintenance of vehicles, we provide maintenance leases that ensure thorough maintenance at designated and certified workshops approved by the District Transport Bureau, thus providing the market with high-quality used cars even after customers have relinquished their leased vehicles.

Initiatives to Promote the Effective Utilization of Vacant Houses

With the aim of solving the problem of vacant houses, which is increasing across Japan due to the declining birthrate, aging citizenry, and shrinking population, our Group has worked to effectively utilize and promote the distribution of vacant houses. We have commercialized the Akikatsu Loan, an unsecured consumer loan catering to a broad range of financial needs related to vacant houses, and the Home-Sharing Loan, and we are also working with regional financial institutions and local municipalities to develop new products and services to address the problem.

Our Group will continue to promote initiatives that contribute to community development and regional revitalization in order to solve the problem of vacant houses and aid in sustainable community development.

Social Contribution Cards

We issue various types of social contribution cards that support environmental conservation activities. These cards allow cardholders to donate a portion of their spending to affiliated organizations without incurring any additional cost. By using the card, we aim to solve social challenges such as environmental issues and work towards realizing a sustainable society.

Web Statements (Mail Service Suspension)

Switching to web statements (mail service suspension) and stopping using paper statements (reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 500g per statement) helps protect the environment.

Engagement Toward Reducing GHG Emissions Across the Entire Supply Chain and Value Chain

We believe it is important to build cooperative relationships and promote together toward achieving net-zero goals to reduce GHG emissions across society as a whole.
We are working to reduce paper by digitalizing various loan and credit card application forms, enclosures when issuing credit cards (membership rules, various guides, among others), and statements of credit card usage. We are also reducing GHG emissions related to our business by promoting the suppression of plastic card issuance by providing digital cards.
Beyond these efforts, we are persistently working to engage diverse stakeholders, including business partners such as member merchants, alliance partners, outsourcing partners, and suppliers, as well as government agencies and local governments, to cooperate in efforts toward achieving a decarbonized and circular society.

Sustainability-Oriented Procurement Policy

To achine a sustainability procurement, we have established "Sustainability-Oriented Procurement Policy". We wil continue striving to expand a sustainability procurement with our stakeholders in line with this policy.
