Mental health measures

Management, human resources personnel, and industrial physicians work together to improve mental health in the workplace by strengthening line care and self-care. We have also established a mylife support dial and made other consultation services available from external third-party professional organizations.
Key initiatives
Creating a system to implement line care: training managers and collaborating with industrial physicians
- To prevent mental health issues from aggravating, we try implement a line care where we notice small changes, detect them early, and respond to them promptly. To do so, we conduct mental health training once every six months, with our general industrial physician as a lecturer. By having industrial physicians, who have a thorough understanding of our company's workplace serve as the instructor, we are able to provide a viable training system on how to create a healthy work environment.
- Management, HR personnel, and industrial physicians work closely together to detect early employees with mental health problems.
- Employees who show signs of mental health problems are immediately connected to an industrial physician. Appropriate measures are taken place to support them cope in the workplace.
- In the stress check, an industrial physician conducts interviews with all high-stress employees and provides appropriate advice on how to improve the work environment.
- Even after the treatment, follow-up interviews are regularly conducted and work accomodations are made as needed.
- Industrial physicians are available even when employees are on leave. If an employee on leave wants to return to work, they can meet with an industrial physician and discuss the possibility of coming back, the need for lighter workload, and necessary accomodations from the workplace.
Promoting an online health support system
- We also conduct education, research, and information dissemination related to mental health care.
- In addition to overwork and return-to-work interviews, we have also made it possible to conduct post-health checkups online, thereby establishing a system where employees can receive health support regardless of their work style.
- In order to alleviate the lack of exercise from remote work, we also stream videos of our athlete employees encouraging others to exercise.
Enhancing self-care by improving sleep quality
- The quality of sleep is important to improve performance and to avoid fatigue.
- We provide education on improving sleep quality through mental health education and non-mandatory evening seminars (*).
- The lecturers for both seminars were provided by industrial physicians, who provided detailed explanations to the questions posed to them by the participants.
*Evening seminars are held about various themes and are open to everyone to "improve oneself after working hours" (to change oneself and to create opportunities to think).
Establishment of mylife support dial
- We've established an external third-party professional organization where professional staffs including clinical psychologists, mental health workers, senior industrial counselors, public health nurses, and nurses provide kind and courteous support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A wide range of consultations are available, including those related to the new coronavirus, health, work, relationships, family, love and marriage, childcare and nursing care, money matters, infertility treatment, gender-related issues, and the content discussed is kept strictly confidential.
